The Sandman Saga (Kryptonite Nevermore), a 1971 Denny O’Neil/Curt Swan storyline starting with Superman #233, aimed to modernize Superman but partly failed. It signaled the end of the Silver Age and ushered in the Bronze Age, despite some drastic changes not sticking.
